Documenting what they don’t want documented. Est. 2019.

The Long Island Bureau of Cryptozoological Field Research is an independent, volunteer, unfunded, and unbothered research collective. We hold three positions: that the anomalous deserves serious documentation; that serious documentation means casts, coordinates, corrections, and a public archive; and that whatever walks the central corridor belongs to the public record — not to a task force with covered plates. We publish everything we can verify and most of what we cannot, clearly labeled. We have been wrong 1,195 times. It is the other nine that keep the lights on.

2019

The Paumanok Path incident

Forty minutes at dusk near mile 7 that D. Kowalski has described publicly exactly once. The Bureau is founded eleven days later, in a garage, with a laminator.

2020

First cast recovered

A 38 cm print near Wading River. The county lab calls it 'probably a boot thing.' The Bureau frames the letter.

2021

The Sighting Wire goes live — and the incident we do not discuss

The Bureau's rolling dispatch feed launches. Separately, an audio exhibit is withdrawn within 48 hours (nail gun, neighbor, enough said). The correction policy it produced remains our proudest document.

2023

The Evidence Board is digitized

1,204 civilian submissions catalogued. Approximately 9 believed. Both numbers still climbing, at very different rates.

2024

The FOIA program begins

Forty-one records requests filed annually. Forty come back denied. One comes back wrong. See the July 2026 urgent dispatch for what was inside it.

2026

The corridor — and Operation First Contact

Nineteen credible events inside eleven kilometers. The largest coordinated civilian field operation in Bureau history is scheduled for August 16. You are invited. So, apparently, is Division 9.
